UFS - Our Story

In the spring of 2022, an opportunity arose to restructure the former Shared Services Center to better align with other DU units and preserve quality centralized support services.

Effective June 1, 2022, several former Shared Services departments (Operations & Special Projects, Disbursements, and Procurement & Contracts) combined with Student Financial Services to create University Financial Services (UFS). The five departments within UFS oversee the bulk of the university's income and expenditures.

Although UFS is a geographically decentralized division, the departments and staff members work together to ensure that the DU community receives the highest quality of financial services and support.

Under Janet Burkhardt's leadership, the UFS team gathers frequently for not only quarterly staff meetings, but also fun team-building events such as cookie exchanges, campus walkabouts, potlucks, and happy hours.

Although University Financial Services is a relatively new DU division, the dedicated and customer-focused members of this team are quickly establishing their own UFS identity and culture that is all about service, financial stewardship, integrity, and fun!
