Insurance
We evaluate and manage risks to protect DU from hazards or perils that may impact the life, safety, reputation, financial property and operations of the institution. We do this through the use of appropriate methodology, including:
Risk Retention
The planned acceptance of losses by deductibles, deliberate noninsurance, and loss-sensitive plans where some risk is consciously retained rather than transferred.
Risk Transfer
The contractual shifting of a risk from one party to another.
Risk Controls
The set of methods by which we evaluate potential losses and take action to reduce or eliminate such threats.
Risk Avoidance
The avoidance of certain activities that may carry risk.
We also manage DU's insurance portfolio and all claims associated with our policies or potential liability to the University.
Driver's Responsibilities
Before you hit the road, you need to review our procedures, complete your motor vehicle driving record check, and pass the online Driver Safety course presented by United Educators Insurance through their EduRisk portal.
