Fall Quarter Kicked Off August 19

Monday, Aug. 19, marked the start of the fall semester for students at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law. The school welcomed 274 first-year JD students who are now part of the largest and most highly qualified class Sturm has admitted in a decade.

Admission officers reviewed more than 2,300 applications before selecting the 239 full-time and 35 part-time students who make up the 2019 incoming class. Students are coming to DU from 40 different states, representing a total of 152 different undergraduate institutions. The median age of this year’s incoming class is 25, and 18% of the students identify as an ethnic minority other than white.

With increases from previous years, the 2019 incoming class had a median undergraduate grade point average of 3.49, and the median Law School Admission Test (LSAT) score was 159. Members of the cohort have the opportunity to participate in nearly 600 externship opportunities and in five law reviews and journals.
