What is REDcap?
REDCap (Research Electronic Data Capture) is a secure, web-based application designed to support data capture for research studies. Data entry happens online, either by participants who fill out surveys, or by project team members logged into REDCap (databases).
REDCap is commonly used for faculty members conducting human subject research in which sensitive data will be collected. REDCap allows for managing and collecting research data in a secure central server location. Support for REDCap is provided by a partnership between IT@DU and University Libraries. IT@DU provides access control, enabling of research project data collection (IRB protocol approval required) and system maintenance and management. University Libraries provides use tutorials, feature support, and troubleshooting.
Cost and Eligibility:
REDCap was originally developed at Vanderbilt University for medical research, and is now supported by the REDCap Consortium, of which DU is a member.
The University of Denver is licensed to use REDCap solely for non-profit work.
Publications resulting from REDCap use need to cite this 2009 Harris et al paper.
