The Office of Global Engagement helps the University adapt to unpredictable changes across the world. Led by Christopher Hill, former U.S. ambassador and assistant secretary of state, this Office will craft a 21st-century platform for global engagement in higher education. Along with lectures and events across campus with an international focus, the Office will also bring high-ranking visitors to the University.

On April 11, Ambassador Hill testified before the United States House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific. During his testimony, he discussed past and current relations between the United States and North Korea before answering questions from subcommittee members.
Ambassador Christopher Hill is the Chief Global Adviser to the University of Denver. Over a 33-year foreign service career, he served six presidents and 11 secretaries of state. Hill led the U.S. delegation in six-party talks on the North Korea nuclear issue while assistant secretary of state for East Asia and Pacific Affairs, and was the U.S ambassador to Iraq, South Korea, Poland and Macedonia. He’s received numerous awards, including the State Department’s Distinguished Service Award. Hill was dean of the Josef Korbel School of International Studies from 2010 to 2017.
Ambassador Christopher Hill appears on local and national media outlets to discuss a wide range of global topics, from North Korea's nuclear capabilities to conflicts in the Middle East.

Join us for part two of our DU DialogUes webinar, where participants and facilitators will take part in a mini-fishbowl dialogue on community and belonging in a virtual world. As dialogue is intended to be reciprocal, we have provided a space for folks to actively listen and participate in meaningful and impactful dialogue. During the latter half of the hour, the audience will be asked to engage with fellow DU Community members to practice dialoguing in breakout rooms on belonging and community. We understand that life happens, but to facilitate meaningful conversation, we ask that participants try to stay and actively engage with others from the DU Community throughout the entirety of the webinar.

The audience learned different ways they can show up for their community virtually, as well as different resources available to them, including the 2-1-1 help center through the Mile High United Way, which connects individuals and families to critical resources including food, shelter, rental assistance, childcare, and more.

In the inaugural Community + Values keynote lecture, noted scholar Timothy Morton took aim at the default apocalypse narrative in evangelical Christianity in a provocative lecture. It challenged us to consider how this powerful narrative can be effectively addressed to promote more positive humanistic manifestations of community and shared values. The event included a reception beginning at 4:30 p.m. in Anderson Academic Commons, room 290, followed by a presentation, Q&A and a cocktail hour.
