Registering to vote is quick, easy, and ensures that your voice is heard.
If you live or go to school in Colorado, you have the right to register to vote here. Remember that you can only vote in one state; if you choose to vote in your home state, you are no longer eligible to vote in Colorado. It is important to know that a registered voter in Colorado is considered a resident of Colorado for income tax purposes and for motor vehicle registration/operation purposes.
Out of State Students: If you are registered in another state, you can request an absentee ballot from your home state or you can change your registration to vote in Colorado. If voting elsewhere, it is important to 1) be aware of your home state deadlines, 2) learn about absentee voting, and possibly update your address.
How to Register to Vote in Colorado
In Colorado, you can easily register to vote online with the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number, or your Colorado ID. Visit Go Vote Colorado to register to vote or check/update your voter registration, including your address. You can also register in person at your County Election office, by mail, or at a Colorado DMV.
Colorado Registration Requirements: You must be a U. S. Citizen, at least 16 years of age and live in Colorado for at least 1 day to register. (You must be at least 18 years of age by Election Day to actually cast a ballot.)

How to Vote at The University of Denver
In Colorado, all eligible registered voters automatically receive a ballot in the mail a few weeks before an election - this makes voting really easy! You can send your ballot in by mail, ballot drop-box, or at an in-person voting center.
The closest ballot drop box for DU students is right on campus! Stop by the Ritchie Center roundabout on Buchtel Blvd and drop your ballot here during election period. In addition, this map shows over 40 ballot drop box locations, available 24 hours a day, in Denver during an election period.
Colorado Voter Requirements: You must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age by Election Day, and live in Colorado at least 22 days before Election Day.
