Welcome and Thank You
Dear DU Community,
Welcome to spring quarter and the rest of spring semester. There is no doubt that the journey ahead will be one that none of us will forget. As I look ahead with optimism and confidence, my first priority is to express my profound thanks to every member of the DU community.
To our students: We know this is not how you intended to spend the rest of your academic year. We know that you’re anxious about online learning, and we understand this. Our faculty have been working very, very hard to make sure that you will have time to acclimate to the online environment in the week ahead, and to be successful throughout the term.
To our staff: I want to thank you for being “here” during these times. Some of you have supported our students who remain in the residence halls, by providing them with food and support. Others have helped keep our facilities sparkling and safe. And so many more of you are working from remote locations to support every facet of this complex institution, from recruiting future students and engaging alumni, to keeping our administrative and academic offices moving forward. Our faculty and students are so grateful. And so am I.
Finally, I want to especially thank our faculty. You have worked incredibly hard, and so creatively, over spring break to get your courses online and prepare for a whole different way of teaching and learning. I know that you are so dedicated to our students and to the University of Denver.
I am so proud of DU as we embark on this unprecedented journey that’s ahead of us. I hope you will continue to find new and fulfilling ways to connect with friends and loved ones, despite the many ways our daily lives are being changed.
Thank you and best wishes.
