U.S. News & World Report Ranks DU Graduate Programs Among the Top 100

Numerous University of Denver graduate programs are being recognized today among the top 100 in the country, as U.S. News & World Report has released its 2022 Best Graduate School Rankings.

The Sturm College of Law has received three top 10 rankings. The part-time law program ranks No. 10, up one spot from a year ago. Both the clinical training and legal writing programs rank No. 9.

Other specialty areas experienced single- and double-digit gains from 2021. Business and corporate law, contracts and commercial law, criminal law, dispute resolution, environmental law, health care law, intellectual property law and tax law all improved over last year and are ranked in the top 100.

The specialty areas of constitutional law, international law and trial advocacy also rank in the top 100. Denver Law’s full-time law program ranks No. 78 in the country.

The Daniels College of Business climbed three spots for its full-time Denver MBA program. The program is now ranked No. 77. The part-time Professional MBA program is ranked No. 73

“We reimagined the full-time MBA program more than five years ago and have seen our rankings climb ever since,” says Daniels Dean Vivek Choudhury. “The rankings are a reflection of the hard work we’ve put into an exceptional student experience. We know our students are prepared well from the challenge-driven curriculum we designed; we see the results in our placement outcomes.”

The Morgridge College of Education experienced significant gains. Overall, the college is ranked No. 85, up from No. 112 last year. The college’s program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) is No. 21 in the category of best educational administration and supervision programs, an improvement of four spots from a year ago. Morgridge’s Library and Information Science program ranks No. 35.

"The College has been on an impressive trajectory over the past several years, and I am confident that this path will continue," says Morgridge Dean Karen Riley. "We have a strong team who have focused their collective efforts on excellence and impact in all areas of their work, and am humbled by their commitment."

In the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), the PhD in English and Literary Arts is No. 99 in the U.S. News rankings.

"We are delighted to see our doctoral program in English & Literary Arts recognized as one of the top 100 programs in the country alongside other nationally ranked programs in the College. This PhD program is a national model of integrating literary studies and creative writing as students work with internationally known scholars and writers," says CAHSS Dean Daniel McIntosh. "The strong mentoring and stimulating community helps students hone their analytical and creative thinking as well as develop their creative and professional writing, leading to success as writers, scholars, and educators,"

U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on two types of data: expert opinions about program excellence and statistical indicators that measure the quality of a school’s faculty, research and students. The data for the rankings comes from statistical surveys of more than 2,125 programs and from reputation surveys sent to more than 23,000 academics and professionals, conducted in fall 2020 and early 2021.
