No matter where you’re interests lay, part of DU’s 4D Experience is exploring the more than 100 clubs and organizations that you can join to dive deep into your academics, sharpen your professional skills, stay healthy and active, and make an impact on the DU community.

Whether you already have a club in mind or want to peruse the many options available, be sure to stop by the Student Organization Involvement Fair, hosted by New Student & Family Programs and the Office of Student Engagement, on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Community Commons to explore your options and sign up for a club or two.

Before you go, here are some options to consider.

Get your game on

Does playing board games sound like a fun and relaxing way to spend your free time? Join Board Game Club and get access to a large collection of intriguing board games—maybe even some you’ve never played before. If you’re looking for a more in-depth adventure, hop into a game with DU Dungeons and Dragons Club. For fans of video games, Esports Club is the perfect place to hone your reaction times.

Give back to the Denver community

Connect with community service opportunities in and around the Denver area through DU Service and Change (DUSC)—a club committed to excellence, passion, impact, inclusiveness, community and fun. Whether you’re looking for regular opportunities to give back or looking to squeeze one or two events into your already-packed schedule, DUSC has options for everyone.

Spend your time outdoors

Alpine Club, founded in 1928, is DU’s largest and longest standing club. They coordinate all kinds of outdoor outings, from day hikes on Colorado’s 14ers and fly fishing to ice climbing and weekend ski trips. Alpine Club also offers students significant discounts on Ikon passes—be sure to take advantage of the savings before ski season!

Cook—and eat—better than a typical college student

Ever wondered what it takes to feed a crowd? Join DU Grilling Society to find out. The club fires up their grills to provide food for on-campus events, while teaching members the ins and outs of barbecue. If you prefer a kitchen, consider joining Cooking Club, where members sharpen their skills and learn how to cook healthy, affordable meals—plus, you get to eat your culinary creations. Join up and make a meal that’s sure to impress your friends and family.

Craft your own style

Whether you’re an aspiring designer or already a skilled tailor, Fashion and Sewing Club is the perfect place to get hands-on experience sewing, making clothes and crocheting. Stop by one of their weekly meetings to flex your creative muscles and sew yourself some fashionable new fits.

Put pen to paper

Looking to get your start as a published writer? The DU Clarion, the University’s student newspaper, was founded in 1899 and has published articles from aspiring writers and journalists ever since. Whether you’re studying journalism or just want to try your hand at covering campus happenings, the Clarion is the perfect place to bolster your writing skills. If you’re more interested in literature, the DU Writers’ Club offers a chance to work on your newest novel.

Build your business

Launching a business is hard. But at Do U Entrepreneurship, students from all disciplines come together to launch all sorts of ventures. From learning how to give an effective elevator pitch to collaborating on innovative new products, the club equips aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools they need to turn their dreams into reality. The Management Club, Consulting Club and Finance Club also offer students a chance to dive deep into different aspects of business alongside their peers.

Stay active and healthy

Exercising in the Mile High City can be daunting, whether it’s the thin air or a lack of workout buddies in your new home city. DU Running Club is the perfect way to get active and put some miles behind you. If running isn’t your thing, Yoga Club offers yoga and meditation sessions.

Find camaraderie in a fraternity or sorority

Approximately 18% of students are members of one of the 20 fraternities and sororities on campus. Whether you’re looking for a service-oriented, social or professional organization, there are options for you.
