Dear DU community members,

Last week the University of Denver announced the move to require influenza vaccinations for all on-campus students, faculty and staff, in accordance with CDC recommendations. To assist with this new requirement, DU's Health and Counseling Center (HCC) is making flu vaccines available, free of charge, to all on-campus students, faculty and staff.

Starting today we will be staffing flu clinics on campus, with additional dates and times through the fall.

Schedule of flu clinics

  • Daily, Mon–Fri @ the COVID-19 Testing Pod (8:30 a.m.–12 p.m., 1–4 p.m., through the end of October)
  • Today, Oct 19 @ Driscoll Green (12–2 p.m.)
  • Thursday, Oct 22 @ Anderson Academic Green (11:30 a.m.–3 p.m.)
  • Monday, Oct 26 @ Driscoll Green (12–2 p.m.)
  • Thursday, Oct 29 @ Anderson Academic Green (11:30 a.m.–3 p.m.)

Faculty and Staff who wish to receive the flu vaccine on campus must go to one of the above-listed pop-up clinics to do so. Students may additionally receive their vaccinations through the HCC itself.

All on-campus students, faculty and staff must show proof of vaccination, or submit a completed exemption form, by December 15.

Vaccine Exemptions

The University understands not everyone will be in a position to receive an influenza vaccination. The state of Colorado allows certain exemptions for medical and nonmedical reasons, and DU will honor such exemptions for the influenza vaccination. You must submit a vaccination exemption form if you wish to be exempt from this requirement.

#DUYourPart

Please, #DUYourPart and find a time soon to protect yourself and our community against this illness. Influenza and COVID-19 can present similar symptoms and can occur simultaneously. The flu virus itself can pose serious health risks to members of our community in any flu season, but coupled with the risk of COVID-19, it is crucial that we do what we can to mitigate the dangers of infection.

Learn about DU's new influenza vaccine requirements, including details on exemptions, at DU's COVID-19 website. For general information on the University's student immunization requirements, visit the HCC immunization page here.

Sincerely,
