Celebrating Commencement at the University of Denver

From dinners to barbecues and award ceremonies to dances, the past month has been a time of celebration around the University of Denver. Over the weekend, more than 3,000 graduate and undergraduate students celebrated Commencement.

In the weeks leading up to Commencement, a number of ceremonies were held on campus to celebrate student achievements. Some of the events included:

• During the seventh annual New Beginnings Pow Wow in early May, four Native American students were honored and received a traditional Native American blanket as a gift.
• The Pioneer Awards Ceremony on May 18 recognized students, faculty and staff who make significant contributions to the DU community.
• The Gold Dinner, held during DU’s inaugural Alumni Weekend, provided an opportunity to welcome graduating undergraduates and graduate students into the alumni family.
• The Puksta Passage ceremony on May 24 celebrated graduating seniors while welcoming the incoming class of Puksta Scholars to DU.
• An ROTC graduation ceremony was held to honor two newly commissioned officers in the U.S. Army. Adrian Thomas Bogart IV and Michaela Behnken both received their degrees in international studies. Bogart will be stationed in Fort Benning, Georgia while Behnken will be stationed in Colorado Springs.
