These houses were part of the "show houses" constructed after the strike. The photograph shows many of the amenities provided by the company for workers' housing. CF&I expanded the use of electricity in the camp as is shown by the numerous utility poles and connections to houses. The company expanded the use of retaining walls to keep the camp clean. Managers felt that by providing fenced yards they could promote a sense of pride and private ownership for miners and their families.
