What is Salesforce Marketing Cloud?

As of July 2024, Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC) is DU's new enterprise email marketing and marketing automation software. SFMC will replace all email marketing tools used across DU including Anthology/iModules and Regroup.

Cost and Eligibility:

Salesforce Marketing Cloud licenses are available to faculty and staff on a limited basis. Submit a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Request to request a license.

Features and Benefits:

Email recipient data in Salesforce is sourced primarily from Banner and CRM Advance. Recipients will have a single record detailing all of their University affiliations, (e.g., current student, faculty, staff, alumni, donor, community member, etc.) Custom list generation will also be available.
 
Marketers and internal communication managers will appreciate the ability to:
  • execute multi-channel marketing campaigns,
  • utilize advanced email marketing tools for designing, personalizing and sending targeted email campaigns,
  • segment their audience and automate email workflows to deliver the right message to the right people at the right time,
  • create customer journey maps to visualize and optimize the entire customer experience,
  • obtain robust data analytics and reporting capabilities, and
  • deliver highly personalized content and recommendations based on customer data and behavior,
  • segment their audience based on various criteria such as demographics, behavior and preferences.

How do I start using Salesforce Marketing Cloud?

Once a license has been provisioned, log in to SFMC at du.edu/marketingcloud. You will be logged in with your DU credentials via single sign-on authentication.

Q: What is the goal of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud implementation?

A: The current goal is to implement an email and marketing automation platform to replace Anthology/iModules and Regroup. The future goal is to consolidate the communications sent through other email software (such as ConstantContact, Emma, MailChimp) into SFMC.

Q: I used iModules for events registration. How does this affect me?

A: Crimson Connect, powered by CampusGroups will be replacing Anthology to handle all non-Advancement Event Registration needs. Cvent will continue to be used for Advancement events.

Q: I need a platform to take credit card payments for sale of goods and services and I was advised to use Anthology iModules. What should I use?

A: Anthology/iModules was a platform for online giving, and the online giving module is being replaced by GiveCampus. Touchnet Marketplace should be used to take credit card payments for sale of goods and services. Please contact University Financial Services for additional information.

Q: Will Slate be replaced?

A: Slate will not be replaced by Marketing Cloud and will continue to serve as the University's prospective student recruitment CRM.
