Join the Department of English & Literary Arts for their Visiting Scholar Series.

Dr. Jethro Kayat is a visiting professor at DU from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, whose research interests include cinema studies, post-apartheid South African literature, speculative art, and Afrofuturist/Africanfuturist literature. His doctoral work explores the fragmented representation of white, South African subjectivities in the post-apartheid work of Nadine Gordimer, Ivan Vladislavic, and Lauren Beukes. He co-authored the article “Future Frontiers: Ontological Osmosis and Africanfuturist cyborgs in Nnedi Okorafor’s Lagoon” and is currently writing an article on Ivan Vladislavic that includes reflections on the author’s latest work of creative non-fiction, "The Near North."
