Distinctly DU
The University of Denver is where ambition meets purpose. As the only R1 private university in the Rocky Mountain region, our students gain global experience, embrace outdoor adventure and compete for championships — all within a close-knit community. Here, innovation, impact and community define who we are.
We’re Different
The 4D Experience
At DU, students receive a multi-dimensional, adventure-driven education that prepares them to thrive through advancing intellectual growth, pursuing careers and lives of purpose, promoting well-being and exploring character. We call it the 4D Experience.
Freedom of Expression
We embrace the idea of pluralism — fostering diverse perspectives and open dialogue. Our vibrant community values equity and collaboration, preparing students to engage thoughtfully in a complex, interconnected world.
Two campuses, one DU
On the edge of the city
Our main DU campus sits on the edge of Denver, in a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood less than 15 minutes from downtown – easily accessible from our nearby light rail station.
In the heart of the mountains
Our second campus, the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus, is nestled in the Rocky Mountains just two hours away, surrounded by forested mountains and alpine lakes.
See the Difference

R1-Designated Research University
At DU, we’re proud to be recognized among 146 other universities as conducting very high levels of research activity. We’re the only private R1 in the Rocky Mountain West.

James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus
The James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus spans 730 acres in the Rocky Mountain wilderness. It's home to hiking trails, climbing routes, its own Via Ferrata, and so much more.

Quarter System
DU's quarter system is divided into four terms: fall, winter, spring, and a shorter summer session. With each quarter lasting just 10 weeks, students have the opportunity to dive deeper into subjects and explore new areas of interest more frequently throughout the year.
Traditional Study Abroad
With over 100 DU Partner Programs spanning six continents, DU students can easily find study abroad experiences that enrich their academics and passions.
Interterm and Faculty-Led Travel Courses
Interterm study abroad – which takes place after fall and winter quarters – offers students a unique opportunity to enjoy travel courses in shorter, more intensive formats.

We are different. We are extraordinary. We are DU.
At the University of Denver, rigorous academics meet real-world experiences, from cutting-edge research at our mountain campus to internships in the heart of Denver. It’s where education meets opportunity, shaping leaders who drive real change.
