Adverse events, much like rough river waters, are certainly painful and difficult, but they don’t have to determine the outcome of your life. There are many aspects of your life you can control, modify, and grow with. That’s the role of resilience.

We are exhausted. 2020 feels like a year that continues to throw adversity and trials at all of us. Through it all, we have grappled with one simple but complex question: ‘How do we make it through  this?’ With this question in mind, C+V is partnering with the 4-Dimensional Experience, Human Resources and Inclusive Community, DU Grand Challenges, The Cultural Center, Athletics and Recreation, and other campus partners to create a new online experience for our campus community.

We know that Zoom and virtual event fatigue are real, so instead of our traditional webinars, we have created a asynchronous module for you to facilitate your own virtual journey through the topics of resilience and growth mindset. Whether you decide to do this module in a group on Zoom or as an individual, this module will create an empowering space for each of you to create a personal “roadmap” of your own growth mindset and resilience journey—it will acknowledge and honor your feelings and also enable you to set tangible goals for what you can develop, control, and modify in your life and how you can grow through these painful times (APA, 2012; Dweck, 2015).

You will learn about the various definitions and aspects of resilience and growth mindset through short videos, articles, and expert interviews. During each section of the module, you will reflect and set goals for how you can “build your connections; foster well-being; find purpose; embrace healthy thoughts; and seek help” (APA, 2012). Those who complete the module receive a copy of your roadmap to resilience and growth mindset as well as a packet of resources and a FREE e-copy of Micro-Resilience: Minor Shifts for Major Boosts in Focus, Drive, and Energy by Bonnie St. John & Allen P. Haines.

The module opened October 22, 2020. After October 22, community members can continue to register for and complete the module. The module will remain open throughout the rest of the calendar year.

* Please note, the Save as Draft does not save your progress. You must finish the module in its entirety in one session.
