Choosing a music program that will prepare you for your professional career is one of the most important decisions you will make. At the Lamont School of Music, you will progress through a conservatory-level education within the outstanding liberal arts environment of the University of Denver. With the guidance of our distinguished faculty of artist-teachers, you'll gain the skills and know-how necessary to thrive as a musician.

Audition & Application Information

Applicants may choose to either audition in person in Denver OR submit a recorded video audition. All video submissions are due by Friday, January 31. 

The 2025 Regular Decision* in-person audition dates are:

  • Saturday, January 25
  • Saturday, February 1

Applicants may also schedule an ad hoc audition or interview on an alternate date.

It is our policy that a student may audition a maximum of three times.

We would love to welcome you in-person to the Lamont School of Music! 

Tours of the Newman Center for the Performing Arts are led by our Lamont Student Ambassadors, a dedicated team of current music majors. They are available by appointment only while class is in session, Monday through Friday at noon and 1:00 p.m. To request a date and time, please email musicadmission@du.edu. A Lamont tour and info session lasts approximately one hour.

We highly encourage you to sign up for a DU campus tour in tandem with your Lamont visit, in order to see everything that DU has to offer (and to get your parking covered). These tours and info sessions last about 2.5 hours and are available Monday through Friday at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Financial Aid

Both merit- and need-based financial support options are available to Lamont students. This aid comes in the form of scholarships, grants, loans and graduate teaching assistantships. Learn more about the opportunities and how to apply:

  • Mio Yamauchi

    Mio Yamauchi

    Mio is a fourth-year undergraduate Lamont student studying basson performance and is from Dallas, Texas. She also has a background in piano, and occasionally accompanies other students. She is part of the Honors Program as a peer mentor and participates in the Leadership program at the Women's College. Mio is also part of the Language Center, serving as a Japanese language tutor as she is fluent in both English and Japanese. Outside of music, she enjoys baking, photography, and going on coffee runs with friends. 

  • Kevin Ostrowski

    Kevin Ostrowski

    Kevin is a second-year undergraduate student at the Lamont School of Music and is from Houston, Texas. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies for saxophone. In addition, Kevin has studied piano for 8 years, and is interested in music production. Outside of music, he likes ultimate frisbee, hiking, meeting new people, and hanging out with friends.

  • Kaitlyn Rosling

    Kaitlyn Rosling

    Kaitlyn is a first-year Master’s student, studying clarinet performance. She was raised in a little farming community in Roggen, Colorado, and has lived there her whole life. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music at the University of Northern Colorado in May 2024. Kaitlyn has been playing the clarinet for about 6 years, and recently picked up bass clarinet and flute. Outside of music, she loves baking, reading, and paddle boarding.
