Christopher Whitt
Vice Chancellor of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Professional Biography
Dr. Christopher M. Whitt is the University of Denver’s Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and is a member of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education (NADOHE). He was previously the Inaugural Vice Provost for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion at Creighton University, establishing the Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion. Before Creighton, Dr. Whitt was founding director of the Center for Inclusive Leadership and Equity at Augustana College and served as the chair of the Department of Political Science. Dr. Whitt has earned national recognitions for teaching, leadership, and community engagement.
At the University of Denver, Dr. Whitt has refined the structure of institutional DEI to grow from an office of DEI to a division supporting the university. Justice is at the core of his leadership as he continually aims to bolster structures to support both the operations of DEI as well as its academic engagement.

Chris holds a Ph.D. in government and politics from the University of Maryland, where he also earned an M.A. His dissertation was titled “Unaffordable Outcomes: The Wealth Gap, Black Political Participation and Public Policy Outcomes in the Black Interest.” He earned a B.A. in political science at Salisbury University.
