Departments/FacultyOTHER KEYBOARD FACULTYThe Lamont School of Music offers bachelor of music, bachelor of arts, and master of music degrees in piano performance. In addition to private keyboard studies, Lamont places strong emphasis on collaborative work. Students have numerous opportunities in chamber music, accompaniment, and other ensemble performances. Those interested contemporary music styles can also pursue the Jazz Studies and Commercial Music Program. All undergraduate music degrees at Lamont are suitable for the Public School Teaching Licensure Program offered through the College of Education. Accordion Faculty
Eric Bradler
Carillon Faculty
Todd Fair Having earned a degree in piano/music education from Pennsylvania's West Chester University in 1974, Todd Fair enrolled at the Netherlands Carillon School in the area where the carillon originated. In 1977 he was awarded the Final Diploma and in 1979 he won a competition and became the first non-Dutch carillonneur for the City of Amsterdam, which has employed carillonneurs to perform at the prestigious Old Church since 1537. In 1984 he joined the faculty of the Netherlands Carillon school and from 1987-1990 he taught at the Scandinavian Carillon School in Copenhagen. In 1980 Fair gained playing awards in France and The Netherlands and in 1988 he received the Berkeley Medal for distinguished service to the carillon art. He has presented workshops and guest recitals in nearly all the countries having carillons, including Australia and Japan. During the 1998-99 academic year he served as acting carillonneur for the University of Michigan. During this period the new carillon position at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music was announced, to which Fair was appointed starting September 1, 1999.

Jazz Keyboard Faculty
Eric Gunnison Pianist Eric Gunnison was raised in a musical family in Buffalo N.Y. and attended Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating with a B.A. in Music Composition in1979. He lives in Denver where he has been a mainstay in the music scene for 19 years. Eric has toured and recorded with vocal jazz group Rare Silk, jazz vocalist Carmen McRae, saxophonist Nelson Rangell, and trumpeter Ron Miles. In addition, he has performed in concert with Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, Phil Woods, Red Rodney, Bobby Shew , Jerry Bergonzi, John McNeil and Eddie Gomez. As a part of the Denver scene, Eric has appeared in concert with both the Colorado and Colorado Springs Symphonies. He also works with his own band, Wake Up Call, performing his original music. As an educator, Eric has worked at the Denver and Cherry Creek schools, CU Boulder, and Metropolitan State College as a performer and clinician. Eric is also active in the local studio scene, having created music for commercials by clients such as TCI, Steamboat Springs, Breckenridge, Primestar, and McDonalds. David Hanson is a faculty member of the Jazz and Commercial Music program at the Lamont School of Music of the University of Denver. He teaches Jazz and Commercial Music Orchestration and Arranging and Jazz at the Keyboard.
A prolific composer, he has been awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Grant in Jazz Composition, and has written for percussionist Steve Houghton, jazz reed master Gary Foster, classical guitar virtuoso Ricardo Iznaola (International Guitar Week premiere of "A Movable Feast (1994), Christopher Kelton, Aries Brass Quintet, the Denver Brass, the Alpine Chorale, The Boulder Brass, Marvin Stamm, Nelson Rangell and Paul Winter. In August 2001 five of his orchestral arrangements for Paul Winter were performed by the Boston Pops on a national broadcast of "Evening at Pops" on PBS.
Recently he has been active in creating orchestral arrangements for Paul Winter, Marvin Stamm, Nelson Rangell, Dotsero, Wind Machine, Riders in the Sky, Flash Cadillac, the Bobs, Emilio Navaira, Tish Hinojosa, Don Edwards and Waddie Mitchell, Flaco Jimenez, Bryan Savage and the Sons of the San Joaquin . He has done special arrangements for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City . His "Royal Rendezvous" was recorded on the Mike Vax Jazz Orchestra's 2002 CD "BIGBANDJAZZ.NET", and three orchestral arrangements of his are featured on the CD "A Prairie Portrait" with Don Edwards, Waddie Mitchell and the Fort Worth Symphony. For many years he has composed and arranged music for radio and television commercials and industrial films. His music is published by Kendor Music, Really Good Music, and Denver Brass Publications.
As a jazz pianist, Hanson was featured in the Duke Ellington "role" with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra in their September 20, 2001 performance of the Ellington "Music from the Sacred Concerts" conducted by Marin Alsop, and he has performed as pianist in the Paul Winter Consort.
