Biography

LINDA WANG is among the premier violinists of our time, consistently praised for her artistry, warm, singing tone and charismatic performances.

Since her debut with Zubin Mehta and the New York Philharmonic at the age of nine, Linda Wang has a growing career with recital performances throughout the United States and concerti performances with orchestras in California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia. She has also been guest soloist with Sir Georg Solti and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra, Salzburg Chamber Orchestra, Paris Sinfonietta, Germany 's
Sächsische Kammerphilharmonie Dresden and Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestras, The Czech Republic's Southern Bohemian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom she toured.  In Asia , her solo appearances have included an enthusiastically received debut with the Phillipines Philharmonic Orchestra. Professor Wang has won many awards, including first prizes at the International Markneukirchen Instrumental Competition in Germany , the National Federation of Music Club's Young Artists Auditions, the International Kingsville Competition, the scholarship award at the International Geneva Music Competition (CIEM), and the Waldo Mayo Award honoring New York 's best young performer.

Linda Wang's solo concerts have taken her to Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam 's Beurs van Berlage and the Berlin Schauspielhaus. Festivals where she has taught or performed include those of Aspen, Norfolk, Savannah, Rocky Ridge, Canada's Orford Centre d'Arts, Mexico's San Miguel de Allende, Italy's Festival of Two Worlds (Spoleto), Japan's Okhust, England's Aldeburgh Festival, the Holland Music Sessions and Austria's Salzburg Festival.

Domestic and international audiences have seen Linda Wang's televised performances on PBS, Arts and Entertainment, Germany's ZDF and Japan's NHK, while radio broadcasts include NPR's "Performance Today, WQXR (New York City), WFMT (Chicago), KMozart and KKGO (Los Angeles), MDR (Germany), Leipzig Rundfunk and Deutschland Radio, Berlin.

A native of New York City, now residing in Denver, Linda Wang holds the Bachelor of Music, Artist's Diploma, and Master of Music degrees from the University of Southern California, with pre-college studies at the Juilliard School and the Colburn School. She was also awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for advanced studies at the Salzburg Mozarteum.


Her principal teachers have been Dorothy DeLay (Juilliard), Alice
Schoenfeld (USC) and Ruggiero Ricci (Mozarteum). A dedicated teacher herself, Professor Wang currently serves on the faculty of University of Denver 's Lamont School of Music where she
teaches violin and coaches chamber music.  She has also been assistant professor at University of the Pacific's Conservatory of Music and performed with the resident piano trio, the New Pacific Trio. She is a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, Music Teachers Association, College Music Society, Chamber Music America, and the American String Teachers Association.
