Clinical Assistant Professor for Educational Administration

Morgridge College of Education

Clinical Assistant Professor in Educational Administration

The University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education invites applications for a clinical assistant professor position in our Educational Administration program.  This program is one of several leadership programs in the college whose focus will span the P-20 spectrum.

The University of Denver is the oldest independent university in the Rocky Mountain Region. We are a private institution working for the public good.  The university is located in the city of Denver, which is quickly becoming one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the U.S.  Census data shows that Denver's population includes 11.1% Black or African American, 31.7% Hispanic or Latino, and 2.8% Asian American.  Situated in this vibrant metropolitan community, the University is committed to building and sustaining a culturally diverse faculty, staff, and student body. The University is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research Institution with High Research Activity.  The Carnegie Foundation has also recognized DU as an institution with a substantial commitment to both Curricular Engagement and Outreach & Partnerships.  DU currently has approximately 11,000 students enrolled in its undergraduate, graduate, and professional preparation programs.

Historically, the three levels of the modern American education system - early learning, K-12 and Postsecondary - have developed and operated independently of each other, leading to a fractured and disjointed educational path for students to follow.  These three levels, however, have mutual areas of concern and together have the responsibility and potential to raise student achievement across racial groups and income levels.  Between 1995 and 2005, 30 states have created P-16 initiatives or councils, and Colorado is one of these states.  In order for these initiatives to have any impact for students, school leadership must become involved.

The University of Denver is integrating the leadership programs for Early Learning, K-12, and Higher Education to prepare leaders for this transformational change in how educational systems operate as they address the issues of access, achievement and equity.

Because of the connected nature of our leadership programs, we are seeking individuals with some knowledge of the transitions and challenges faced in other levels of the formal educational system. We work to prepare visionary, courageous, and transformational leaders, educators, and researchers who are able to understand and work successfully to address issues of access, achievement and equity in the context of meeting 21st century needs.

The Educational Administration program is one of several academic offerings in the Morgridge College of Education (MCE), which currently enrolls 800 students in its 22 degree (MA/MLIS, EdS, and PhD), licensure, and certificate programs. (Please visit http://www.du.edu/education/).
