Dr. Aviv is also currently writing an article for Shofar:The Interdisciplinary Journal of Jewish Studies entitled Alternative Jewish Tourism to Palestine.
Dr. Kiristian Miccio is currently a Fulbright Scholar in Dublin, Ireland through July, 2008. Her research and teaching focuses on the issue of male intimate violence and the state of accountability in a traditional Catholic country.
Dr. Sarah Pessin has submitted an essay on Maimonides’ 13 Principles of Faith for a new volume on Medieval Philosophy.
Dr. Adam Rovner joins the CJS faculty as an assistant professor of English and Judaic Studies beginning fall 2008. Professor Rovner joins the University of Denver from Hofstra University in New York where he served as an assistant professor of Comparative Literature and Languages. He obtained his PhD from Indiana Univerisity, his MA from Hebrew University and his BA from Washington University. Adam is currently at work on a book describing proposals to create Jewish homelands prior to Israel’s establishment. He also serves as the translations editor for Zeek: A Journal of Jewish Thought and Culture www.jewcy.com/zeek .

An exciting addition to the CJS faculty, we are thrilled to welcome Professor Rovner and the many ideas, events and programs he is looking forward to bringing to Denver. Professor Rovner can be reached through the Center for Judaic Studies after September 1, 2008.
Dr. Janet Rumfelt, together with this year’s Fred Marcus Memorial Holocaust Lecturer, Dr. Shirli Gilbert, wrote articles for the commemorative booklet for the Colorado Symphony’s Hope From Despair Festival. Dr. David Shneer has been hired as an associate professor of History and the director of the newly established Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder beginning July 1, 2008. Both DU and CU are excited about the collaboration opportunities and the educational advancements this will bring to these two universities and the Colorado community as a whole. Dr. Sarah Pessin will assume the directorship of DU’s Center for Judaic Studies beginning July 1.
